Is a 50 cal. rifle legal to have in New York state?

I am 27yrs old I am in the new state army national guard, as military police. i have only been charged with disorderly conduct. I will know retired officers. and fellow sgt. in the military for reference. My question is will it be hard for me to get my pistol permit, and what kind will have actualy get as i would like to request concele and carry. email me at jmal_always@yahoo.com
