This is the count of private, for-profit, postsecondary institutions that are eligible for Title IV federal financial-aid programs and grant an associate's or higher degree. For an institution to be eligible to participate in Title IV financial-aid programs it must offer a program of at least 300 clock hours in length, have accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, have been in business for at least 2 years, and have signed a participation agreement with the Department. A private, for-profit institution is one in which the individual(s) or agency in control receives compensation other than wages, rent, or other expenses for the assumption of risk. |
This is the count of all white students enrolled in courses creditable toward a degree or other formal award; in courses that are part of a vocational or occupational program, including those enrolled in off-campus centers; and high school students taking regular college courses for credit. "White" refers to persons having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, North Africa, or the Middle East (except those of Hispanic origin). |
