DEFINITION
Number of injuries caused by collisions or accidents at highway-rail grade crossings. NOTE: Any impact, regardless of severity, between railroad on-track equipment and any user of a public or private crossing site must be reported to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Railroad Administration on Form F 6180.57. The crossing site includes sidewalks and pathways at, or associated with, the crossing. Counts of fatalities and injuries include motor vehicle occupants, people not in vehicles or on the trains, as well as people on the train or railroad equipment.
