This is a very interesting statistic from a regional standpoint. Why might a person and his or her family choose cremation over burial? Is the choice based on religiousness or religious practices? Does the selection of cremation have more to do with economics or is there a geographic reason such as permafrost in Alaska or lack of burial space in Hawaii? Are more Democrats cremated than Republicans? Answering some these questions would be a fascinating project.
