The biggest oil consumers per capita are sparsely populated western or southern states that tend to also be big oil producers. As the old saying goes, takes oil to make oil. Two things strike me as interesting here: Delaware is #8 in the nation in oil consumption, though similar states with larger industries like Massachusetts and Maryland are farther down the list. The second point which is interesting is Mississippi ranks #9 yet Gerogia ranks #49. Does anyone have a reasonable explanation for this? Very revealing statistic.

Does Alaska invest into power-saving technologies? It's the coldest state, so they consume too much fuel for heating.
