COMMENTARY

I find it absolutley shocking that Maryland has such a high homicide rate. For all the talk about Baltimore cleaning up its image, it appears little has changed. I can tell you, as a resident of Frederick (one of the largest cities in Maryland), our state and especially this city is a wonderful place to live. My children are safe here, schools are good and unemployment is low. My fear is that crime in Baltimore unecessarily damages the reputation of our state, which otherwise ranks high in wealth, education and healthcare.
