Between 1995 and 1999 he played for the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe. In 1996 he was named World Bowl MVP. Murphy, who was a prep standout at Idaho Falls High School in eastern Idaho, was on Minnesota's practice squad in 1997 and participated in their training camp last season.
Murphy averaged 21.9 yards on 14 kickoff returns, a duty he shared with fellow receivers Jacquez Green and Reidel Anthony in Tampa Bay.
Murphy, who had two 29-yard returns in the Bucs' 21-14 loss to Minnesota in Week 4 at the Metrodome, said the Vikings coaches have already picked his brain about some of the nuances of the Bucs' offensive and special teams systems.
