A world record is the best performance in a certain discipline, usually a sports event. In the United States the form world's record was formerly more common. Lake record is 17#, On a pond that size it's very easy to know where the spawning beds are located, not to mention that the water is crystal clear so you can see the fish.
Anyone who claims they caught the World Record bass, by swinging on a bedding bass 5 times and eventually foul hooking it is doing a great injustice to anyone who has the dream of catching the "big one" IMO.
Forget the record and all the technicalities, I think these guys should be commended for their sportsmanship.
