Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki is a wiki for information on the Star Wars saga, including information on all six films, as well as the Expanded Universe. History

Hosted by Wikia, Wookieepedia was conceived by Chad Barbry and was launched on Friday March 4, 2005. The site's first editors were mostly users of Wikipedia who were frustrated by the requirements of notability required for an article there, and the ensuing debates over deletion of content. Most of the first articles were copied directly from Wikipedia under the GNU Free Documentation License, and any Star Wars articles deemed too minor for inclusion in Wikipedia (e.g. Order D6-66) are almost always transferred to Wookieepedia, assuming they do not have an article there already. Wikia is a selective wiki hosting service (or wiki farm) founded in 2004 by Jimmy Wales and Angela Beesley under the name Wikicities. ... In addition, certain sections of articles which had to remain out-of-universe to identify them as Star Wars articles on Wikipedia were "wookified" to fit the in-universe perspective of the wiki (for example, the removal of text like "is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe", removing the "(Star Wars)" disambiguation from links and so on). However, other sections of the wiki cover actors, artists, real-life companies, and culture in an out-of-universe perspective. Since its foundation, many more changes to the wiki's Manual of Style have been made.

Wookieepedia was the most visited wiki hosted by Wikia as of July 2005. On 2005-11-28 Wookieepedia was selected as the Sci Fi Channel's "Sci Fi Site of the Week".[1] In January 2006, the site was Wikia's featured wiki of the month. 2005 is a common year starting on Saturday of the Gregorian calendar. ... 2005 (MMV) was a common year starting on Saturday of the Gregorian calendar. ...
