Westampton Township is a township located in Burlington County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 7,217.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 28.9 km˛ (11.2 mi˛). 28.6 km˛ (11.0 mi˛) of it is land and 0.3 km˛ (0.1 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 1.08% water.
Westampton Township borders Willingboro Township, Burlington Township, Springfield Township, Eastampton Township, Mount Holly Township, Hainesport Township, and Mount Laurel Township.
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 7,217 people, 2,525 households, and 1,966 families residing in the township. The population density is 252.4/km˛ (653.6/mi˛). There are 2,581 housing units at an average density of 90.3/km˛ (233.8/mi˛). The racial makeup of the township is 70.81% White, 21.27% African American, 0.28% Native American, 3.03% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.83% from other races, and 2.74% from two or more races. 6.21% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,525 households out of which 42.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.2% are married couples living together, 13.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.1% are non-families. 18.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.83 and the average family size is 3.24.
In the township the population is spread out with 29.3% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 33.4% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 9.1% who are 65 years of age or older.
