"Wasted" deals with themes of addiction, including alcoholism. The song has two characters who each have to stop the addiction from taking over their lives. One of them gets out of addiction to a relationship, and the other gets out of addiction to alcohol. The lyrics read "I don't want to spend my life jaded, waiting / To wake up one day and find / That I've let all these years go by / Wasted."
