History

WTAE-TV went on the air in 1958 as Pittsburgh's ABC affiliate. From the beginning, it has been owned by the Hearst Corporation (now Hearst-Argyle Television), which purchased the station's former sister radio station, WCAE/WTAE Radio/WEAE, in 1931. The radio station is now WEAE, and is owned by ABC/Disney as part of the ESPN Radio network.
