Station History

WNOK-FM signed on by the late 1950's, simulcasting much of WNOK-AM's programming. WNOK-FM went to the Beautiful Music format during the 1960's. This format remained until 1975, when the format was changed to automated Top 40 as "Stereo 105". This move proved to be wise as the station enjoyed huge ratings.

By 1980, the automation was done away with, replaced with a live airstaff and the station's name became simply "105 WNOK". By early 1984, the station became "104.7 WNOK", which became the first station in Columbia to adopt their digital frequency as part of their name.
