Vernazza is the fourth town heading north into La Cinque Terre. Vernazza has no car traffic and remains one of the truest "fishing villages" on the Italian Riviera. The high tourist season is June-September, and most tourists rent rooms in the locals' homes for accommodation.
From Vernazza, you can walk to any of the other four towns in the Cinque Terre. The walk to Corniglia (to the south) is the hardest and longest of the walks, taking roughly 1.5 hours. Corniglia differs from the other villages of the Cinque Terre as it does not directly look upon the sea but raises on the top of a promontory about 100 meters high, surrounded on three sides by vineyards and terraces and the fourth side descends steeply on the sea. ...
