Vehicons are one of the many sub-groups of Transformers, appearing only in the animated cartoon series Beast Machines. Vehicons are in a way a homage to the original groups of Transformers; as they possess vehicle forms in comparison to the beast forms of Maximals and Predacons. However, Vehicons are mindless drones, controlled entirely by the will of Megatron or their respective general and assembled from the melted down and recast remains of the slain Transformer population. In the show, there are three specific groups of Vehicon: Beast Machines was an animated television series produced by Mainframe Entertainment that was a sequel to Beast Wars. ... The toy-line featured other types of Vehicon, such as Mirage (an experimental high-speed attack warrior), Scavengers (demolition drones), Spy Streak (aerial reconnaissance) and Blast Charge (all-terrain combat). After the destruction of Tankor and Jetstorm, two new generals are designed: a helicopter named Obsidian and a female Cybertronian six-wheeler named Strika.


The term Vehicon would later be used in the backstory for Takara's Robot Masters line, as the name of the planet of Transformers led by Reverse Convoy, a Transformer whose body was possessed by G1 Megatron. Megatron is the leader of the Decepticons in fictional Transformers Universes. ...

Their effectiveness was limited (due to their mindlessness) against Optimus Primal 's Maximals, leading to the creation of the Vehicon Generals.
