Van Etten is a town located in Chemung County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,518.
The Town of Van Etten was formed in 1854 from the Town of Cayuta, which became part of Schuyler County, New York. Within the town there is a village also called Van Etten.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,518 people, 596 households, and 420 families residing in the town. The population density is 14.1/km˛ (36.5/mi˛).
