Plot

Bart (Bob Hoskins), is a mobster in charge of collections. Danny (Jet Li), is Bart's dog. Whenever Bart takes off the collar, Danny will attack and kill whoever Bart says. An accident separates Danny and Bart, and starts Danny on his journey to becoming human. When circumstances bring these two back together, Danny has and changed and Bart refuses to accept it. Box office

In its opening weekend in North America, the film grossed a respectable $10,900,901 ($5,570 per screen). However, Star Wars Episode III opened the next week, taking away much of Unleashed's target audience. As a result, box office plummeted by 62.2% in the second weekend, and the film's total gross wound up at $24.5 million in the U.S. with a further $26 million outside the U.S. [1]. Unleashed, originally titled ‘Danny the Dog’, considers the bleak existence of Danny (Jet Li) a man raised since childhood as a dog, a literal slave to his master Uncle Bart (Bob Hoskins).
First was the structure of the film, set in three acts the audience is initially introduced to Danny, then there is his reintroduction to humanity concluding with him facing Bart and his past.
This is particularly important in a film such as this where the middle of the piece demands emotional connection and a lot of exposition.
