Unborn is an Alternative band out of Baker, West Virginia.
The band Unborn was originally started without a name, as most bands are, in February 2005. It consisted of 4 founding members. Jeremy tharp on Vocals and Guitar, Phil Taylor on Vocals and Guitar, Forrest Loomis on Bass, Justin Taylor on Drums.
Phil and Justin Taylor had been together and had played a few parties before the coming together of the band. They had talked friend Forrest Loomis into purchasing a bass and starting a band. Tharp, another friend, was considered by Phil and Forrest to be the best Guitarist they knew, and was quickly asked to join the band.
After the formation of the band a fifth member was quickly added. Seth Taylor on Guitar. The new Guitarist had also played at a party with brother Phil Taylor and cousin Justin Taylor.
When the band decided to start composing original material they looked to tharp as the leader in that respects. Tharp composed two songs, "The bird", and "The Spider". The band developed these and performed them for small audiences on two occasions.
Somewhere at this point in the bands career, Guitarist Phil Taylor and Bassist Forrest Loomis began calling the band "Self Titled".
A third song was written by Tharp titled "The Cat", but was never developed by the band due to trouble with the alternate timing of the song.
Conflicting musical interest began to develop between Drummer Justin Taylor's musical preference and that of Tharp. A new approach was attempted by shifting song writing and composing to Guitarist Phil Taylor.
Taylor decided to quickly write songs for an album and produced 8 songs in one week.
The songs were written in the following order:
1. What To Do
2. The City
4. Curse You Reality
5. Get A Life
6. Off With Your Head
7. She No Like
8. One Last Sad Song
Of the 8 songs, only one was ever even introduced to the rest of the band. This is said by Taylor to be because of his "constantly changing mind". The song kept for use "One last Sad Song" was later retitled "Another Sad Song" and put on the list of songs for the album "Tales Of Love Or Lack Thereof".
Due to more cases of friction, Jeremy Tharp left the band with no hard feelings, still good friends with all of the remaining members.
Taylor began to write more songs for the band, eventually gathering enough songs for the potential album he titled "Tales Of Love Or Lack Thereof".
The band developed Taylor's songs and a few cover songs. They then performed them at a party for an audience of about 50 people.
By the time of the concert it had been discovered that there was another band by the name of "Self Titled". The band changed their name to "Evol", a backwards spelling of the word "love" and a play on words to imply that love is a form of evil.
The band soon enough found that the new name was also taken. Jeremy Tharp still freinds with the band brought up a name he had suggested in the days of the bands start, "Unborn". The name implied that the band would never be born into the mainstream of music for a lack of desire to be famous, but also left up to interpretation by any who chose to do so. The suggestion was picked as the permanent name for the band.
After deciding they were ready to record their album, the band enlisted the aid of former Singer, Songwriter, and Guitarist, Jeremy Tharp to produce their work.
Tharp opened "Poison Springs Records" and named Unborn as his first signed band.
After many problems with recording and frustration with making time to practice and not doing so, Drummer Justin Taylor quit the band. Again, everyone remained friends with no hard feelings.
His position in the band was filled in the same week by Dustin Adolphson, a long time friend Phil, Seth, and Justin Taylor.
The second practice with the new Drummer was also the first succesful recording session.
