Tyco has been used as the name for a number of distinct companies:

  • Tyco International is a Bermuda-based conglomerate.
  • Tyco is the former name of Mantua Industries. The name was derived from the phrase TYler COmpany after its founder, John Tyler. The company manufactured model trains. It was shut down October 31, 2001.
  • Tyco Toys was acquired by Mattel in 1996.

Tyco is one of several large corporations whose books are being scrutinized by prosecutors and federal regulators, Enron Corp., WorldCom Inc. and Adelphia Communications also among them.
