Turkish Delight is the English title of the 1973 movie Turks fruit, directed by Paul Verhoeven, based on a novel by Jan Wolkers.

It stars Rutger Hauer as "Eric" Monique van de Ven as "Olga". The movie was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Filming locations included Alkmaar and Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Turkish Delight, or lokum, is a confection made from starch and sugar.
Turkish legend has it that in his endeavor to cope with all his mistresses, a Turkish sultan summoned all his confectionery experts and ordered them to produce a unique dessert to add to the collection of secret recipes for which he was famous.
During his travels to Istanbul, an unknown British traveler became very fond of the Turkish delicacy, purchased cases of lokum and shipped them to Britain under the name Turkish Delight.
