The Transnistrian Supreme Soviet (Russian: Верховного Совета Приднестровской Молдавской Республики) is the law making body in the region of Transnistria. The the unicameral body consists of 42 seats, all of which are determined by single mandate constituencies, is headed by a chairman. While they can pass laws that are relating to the region and it's affairs, however, they are not allowed to pass laws that conflict with Moldovan law. This is due in par that Transnistria is still considered a part of that country, though Transnistria has declared itself independent since 1992. The chairman of the Supreme Soviet is Grigorii Marakutsa (Grigore Mărăcuţă), who has held this position since the creation of the unicameral body. [1]
