Timok (Cyrillic: Тимок) is a river in Serbia. It takes its source from the western parts of Stara Planina and is a border river between the republics of Serbia and Montenegro and Bulgaria for 15 km before it pours into the Danube. Timok is a right tributary of the Danube and the river's mouth is the northwesternmost point of Bulgaria. Timok's length is 189 km. The toxicat distruction of the river ecosystem at this hot spot is due to the many-years-long pollution with heavy metals (copper, lead, cadmium, arsenic, nickel, chromium) and insoluble matter from the Yugoslavian mines at the town of Bor.
All of the rivers are transboundary with the Republic of Yugoslavia.
The river liman, which appears to be the mouth of Osam River at its outflow into the Danube, is heavily organically polluted, mainly because of the pollution caused by the paper mills near Cherkovitsa village.
