Encyclopedia > Theodore F. Green

Theodore F. Green (1867-1966) was a Democratic politician from Rhode Island. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he graduated from Brown University, fought in the Spanish-American War, and worked as a lawyer.


In 1932 he was elected Governor of Rhode Island, and served until 1937. He was elected to the United States Senate in 1936 and served four terms, until retiring in 1961. He died in Providence in 1967.


Rhode Island's main airport, T. F. Green Airport in Warwick, is named for him.
