History

According to the group's web site, the organization was established in 2003 to open a Division 1 Drum & Bugle Corps in the historically short lived drum corps activity in New York City. Although, the main priority and purpose of the organization is to produce and compete a Drum & Bugle Corps, Legacy has made extreme organizational changes and has switched gears several times from their original goal. In late 2005 as Legacy completed their restructuring phase, the " Drum and Bugle Corps" portion of their name and was replaced with corporation. Overview

Today Legacy Corporation has over 4 American sites and 3 international sites but has centralized American administrative offices to New York City and international administrative offices to Amsterdam. Legacy Corp serves boys and girls generally between the ages of 14 and 21. Many sites are located in urban areas as well as High Schools, Elementary Schools and serve children from low income families. The organization normally offers programs in high schools or elementary schools that lack performing arts programs or have a high demand for these programs. Typically, Legacy provides: music, dance, athletics, educational courses or other programs specificly geared to keep the interest of youth to ensure a high success and popularity rate. Most recently, Legacy has been a sponsor of shows at its sites in New York City. These shows has been designed as a double efficent tool. Shows would be used to display their participants achievements while participating in Legacy programs and as an active recruitment or promotion for new members.
