Edgar Winter is a musician who had significant success in the 1970s and 1980s. He is a keyboard player, vocalist, saxophonist and percussionist, well-versed in Jazz, Blues and Rock. He had a string of hits in the 1970s with the albums They Only Come Out at Night that featured the hit instrumental "Frankenstein" and songs such as "Freeride", and the album Shock Treatment that featured the song "Easy Street". Winter has worked with his brother, guitarist Johnny Winter, as well as with guitarists Rick Derringer and Ronnie Montrose. As teens Edgar and Johnny (who is three years older than Edgar) began performing together at local watering holes such as Tom's Fish Camp.

Edgar follows his last LP (which hit the number one spot) with a set that does more than anything he has yet come up with to showcase his instrumental skill, ability to move through different kinds of material from wild rock to softer sounding cuts to soulful tones, and his fine band.
Winter is outstanding on keyboards, synthesizer and saxophone and is a more than capable vocalist on the cuts he handles lead on.
The latest Edgar Winter Group had all the ingredients necessary to become such a band, and to be very truthful about the matter I dropped their latest album on my turntable fully expecting to be bored to tears.
