The story is set in medieval England, as plague is sweeping across the country. Young Robin wants to be a knight like his father, but his dreams are endangered when he becomes ill, finally losing the use of his legs. Illness claims the lives of the servants who are charged with caring for Robin. He is saved when a monk takes him to a monastery and cares for him. Mediæval Britain is a term used to suggest that there is a unity to the history of Great Britain from the 5th centurys withdrawal of Roman forces and Germanic invasions until the 16th century Reformations in Scotland and England. ...
