In Israel, Tal Law, a temporary law set to expire in 2007, is a special exemption to the required military service in the Israel Defense Forces. It is provided only for Israelis meeting very specific criteria; ultra-orthodox men and women born in the Land of Israel (Eretz Yisrael) that have lived there up until their 18th birthday. To qualify women must be married no later than the age of 16, and men must continue to serve in their country by studying at the yeshiva until the age of 21. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) (Hebrew: צבא ההגנה לישראל ▶(?)
