Summit is a village located in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 10,637.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 10,637 people, 3,356 households, and 2,416 families residing in the village. The population density is 1,937.2/km▓ (5,008.7/mi▓). There are 3,552 housing units at an average density of 646.9/km▓ (1,672.6/mi▓). The racial makeup of the village is 63.31% White, 12.05% African American, 0.30% Native American, 1.41% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 19.64% from other races, and 3.27% from two or more races. 48.47% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,356 households out of which 38.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.7% are married couples living together, 15.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.0% are non-families. 23.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
