Statistics New Zealand (Te Tari Tatau) is a New Zealand government department, and the source of the country's official statistics. Until December 1994 it was known as the Department of Statistics. The department administers the Statistics Act 1975, which requires it to conduct the five-yearly census.


The site says "Information obtained from Statistics New Zealand may be freely used, reproduced, or quoted unless otherwise specified. In all cases Statistics New Zealand must be acknowledged as the source."
