Structure of St. John

The national board oversees St. John in the whole of Australia. The Organization is then divided into the states/territories who make most decisions. From here, the states are divided into regions, who oversee all branches. First aid services has a smaller unit called a division. Divisions consist of 8-50 members. First aid is a series of simple, life-saving medical techniques that a non-doctor or layman can be trained to perform. ...


St John Ambulance Australia has several Branches:


First Aid Services(formerly Operations Branch): Provides First Aid Coverage at public events e.g. sporting events, concerts etc. St John have close relationships with the Ambulance Service(s)>


Training: Provides First Aid Training and related subjects to the people of all ages. St John is The Largest First Aid Training Organisation in Australia. St John also offer ALS (Advanced Life Support) courses, including; Analgesic Gases, Advanced Resuscitation and AED (Automated External Defibrilator).


Opthalmic Care: Raises funds and recruits doctors and nurses for the St. John Ophthalmic Eye Hospial in Jerusalem. Jerusalem and the Old City. ...

Youth movement

St John runs Cadet Divisions for children aged 11-18. These divisions also Contain St John Juniors aged between 8-11.


St John also runs many divisions in universities, many of which are very successful. In 2005 the First Youth Division was set up in Canberra ACT, Canberra Central Youth Division. This Division has members ranging from the age of 8 to 25. The Divisions main emphasis is youth developement
