St Mary's was being re-sited just outside of the town of Wantage. The buildings have been purchased for around £15m by the property developer Anton Bilton and his company, Raven Mount, in 2005. The move was said to be necessary to increase the size of the school and modernise facilities. 2005 (MMV) was a common year starting on Saturday of the Gregorian calendar. ...

The school is now merging with Heathfield, Ascot, to form a new school. The new school trust will own both the Ascot site, and the Wantage site. The St Mary's girls currently in the middle of their examination courses will complete these at the Wantage site, retaining most of the same teachers for the full year. The Wantage site will be closed at the end of the summer term 2007, when it will be developed. The other years will be moving to the Ascot site at the end of the summer term 2006.

The combined schools will be using the money obtained from the sale of the Wantage site to build state of the art facilities at the Ascot site.

Some girls are finding alternative schools and will not be moving to Heathfield.
