Mr. Krabs decides to order a toy crane to make money. Squidward continually fails at the crane and convinces himself it's rigged. Then SpongeBob comes up and pulls out a bear. Squidward keeps trying and keeps failing. SpongeBob keeps on winning and winning. SpongeBob gets two with one quarter and says "It's not fair." So he puts one of them back in. He wins another, a duck and a clown. He puts the clown back in. SpongeBob uses the crane to get it back in, and when it's unhappy, puts the clown next to a stuffed lion. SpongeBob soon gets a collection of stuffed animals, while Squidward spends all but his last quarter on the machine. Mr. Krabs empties the moneybox and finds the deed to Squidward's house. SpongeBob advises Squidward to close his eyes and "be the crane". Squidward gets a hairless, tiny stuffed bear. He becomes overjoyed and overbearing. He decides to try out the principles on an actual crane at a construction site, and ends up sending SpongeBob and some construction workers down a hill and destroys the Krusty Krab. The construction workers surround Squidward and SpongeBob tries to pull Squidward out with the crane. He gets the stuffed animal Squidward won instead. A Toy Crane Machine is a popular game machine seen regularly in United States supermarkets, restaurants, sports venues and various other places. ...

  • When Squidward thinks that he hears the crane machine squeaking out his name, the scene becomes similar to a scene from a Twilight Zone episode titled The Fever, in which an old man finally learns of gambling as he experiences it himself whilst falling into the sharp addiction, along with a slot machine that seems to call him and appears to follow him everywhere he goes.
