Sinhala Online: The Sri Lanka page around Singhalese (Sinhala) (197 words)
This site is more dedicated to the sinhala language than the general www.ceylon-online.com site and we will try to give you as much information about the singhalese language as possible.
Additionally to the original site at www.ceylon-online.com I improved the rendering of the sinhala signs to make them nicer looking and try to give more info than on most other sites (and there are not many out there).
P.S.:If someone is wondering what singhalese (or sinhala) is - it is a language spoken by the majority of the inhabitants of Sri Lanka and especially the writing is really cute (go here to see the writing).
Sinhala Summary (2209 words)
Sinhala eliminated aspirated consonants and the consonant r, reduced double consonants to single and diphthongs to vowels, and changed certain consonants (for example, j to d, p to v, and s to h).
Sinhala (also referred to as Sinhalese; earlier referred to as Singhalese) is the mother tongue of the Sinhalese, the largest ethnic group of Sri Lanka.
The closest relative of Sinhala is the language of the Maldives, Dhivehi.
