Sinclair Oil is an American petroleum company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Most of its gas station locations are located west of the Mississippi River.
Sinclair's patented gasoline additive is SG-2000.
Its famous mascot includes a large green dinosaur.
The company has long history being a fixture on American roads and briefly in other countires with its green dinosaur logo. Sinclair was aquired by Atlantic Richfield in 1969. As the company was merged into ARCO, the famous Sinclair dinosaur went away, but a part was sold intact to Earl Holding in 1976 and continued on independently of ARCO in Western USA.
The company also owns the "Little America Hotels & Resorts" group, which owns and operates Sun Valley, Idaho among other properties.
Sinclair operates three of the most up-to-date refineries in western America, supplying customers the highest quality Sinclairgasolines, diesel fuel, and jet fuel.
The Sinclair Refinery near Rawlins, Wyoming, is one of the West's longest-running industrial plants, yet Sinclair has made it one of the most modern refineries in the Rockies, producing 60,000 barrels of petroleum products per day.
Sinclair is on the move with an expansion program that's converting existing stations of other brands to Sinclair, and building new Sinclair stations in areas of expanding populations.
