Simpson is a village located in Pitt County, North Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 464. In 2004, it was estimated that the village had a total population of 1,100. The village is a part of the Greenville Metropolitan Area.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 464 people, 189 households, and 131 families residing in the village. The population density is 484.2/km˛ (1,260.2/mi˛). There are 207 housing units at an average density of 216.0/km˛ (562.2/mi˛). The racial makeup of the village is 56.03% White, 42.46% African American, 0.65% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.86% from two or more races. 2.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 189 households out of which 26.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% are married couples living together, 14.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.2% are non-families. 28.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 3.01.
