Ford Senior Players Championship 2001 - Report (629 words)
Defending champion Ray Floyd fired a five- under-par 67 for a share of the lead after Thursday's first round of the Senior Players Championship, the fourth and final major of the 2001 Senior Tour season.
Floyd, who last year at the age of 57 became the oldest winner of this major championship, birdied eight holes Thursday, including four in a row on the front nine at the TPC of Michigan.
Floyd, also the victor in 1996, is seeking to become the first three-time winner of the Senior Players Championship.
