Schecter Guitar Research is an American guitar company whose instruments are favored by hard rock and metal musicians. Although it began producing its own line of guitars in 1989, the company originally started as a replacement part facility. They now have a custom shop and line of guitars known as the Diamond Series. Schecter's guitars are mainly used by hard rock and metal players, but they do have jazz and blues guitars such as the "Schecter Jazz Elite." Schecter's current leading line is the Elite Series, but the custom series are very close behind due to the popularity of their "Custom 4". Schecter also has a custom shop, which makes guitars to the buyer's specifications. Schecter will not customize Diamond Series guitars, as they are crafted in South Korea, while the custom shop is located in Burbank, CA at the Schecter headquarters.
