The Scandinavian Masters is an annual golf tournament on the PGA European Tour which is played in Sweden at the end of July or the beginning of August each year. The Swedish stop on the European Tour schedule was inugurated in 1973 and has had several names over the years. Tony Jacklin (born July 7, 1944) is an English golfer, who was arguably the most successful UK player of his generation.
In 1969, he became the first British player to win The Open Championship for 18 years.
It was the first victory by a British player in that tournament since 1920, and as of 2006, it remained the only one by any European in the post World War II era.
