Sanderson is a census-designated place located in Terrell County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 861. It is the county seat of Terrell County6.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 861 people, 356 households, and 237 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 79.3/km˛ (205.7/mi˛). There are 635 housing units at an average density of 58.5/km˛ (151.7/mi˛). The racial makeup of the CDP is 86.88% White, 0.00% African American, 2.09% Native American, 0.70% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 9.18% from other races, and 1.16% from two or more races. 51.45% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 356 households out of which 29.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% are married couples living together, 8.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.4% are non-families. 32.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
