Russ Parr is an American radio and television personality.


Parr began as a Production Services Director at ABC TV. In the mid 1980s, he owned and ran his own recording label , Rapsur Records. In 1989, he left Hollywood where he was a morning host on 1580 KDAY, the first all hip-hop radio station. Parr went to Dallas where he worked at KJMZ 100.3 JAMZ. He also started FLAVA TV, which enabled him to direct, write, and act. Eventually, in the mid 90s, Parr signed on at Radio One's 93.9 WKYS-FM where his show went national. Currently, Parr is the host of the nationally syndicated Russ Parr Morning Show heard weekdays by more than 3.2 million listeners in 45 U.S. cities. He also hosts a weekend show, On Air with Russ Parr, which can be heard on more than 40 different radio stations. Aside from his radio gigs, Parr is also the co-host of the TV One dating show, Get The Hook Up.[1]


Parr is a graduate of Cal State University-Northridge with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio TV and Film.

Radio One's Russ Parr, host of the top-rated, nationally syndicated Russ Parr Morning Show, and the radio program's entertainment reporter and personality Alfredas have signed on as the key on-air promotional talent for TV One, the new cable network targeting African American adults that is scheduled to launch January 19.
"Russ Parr and Alfredas will essentially serve as the voice and face of TV One, and we are delighted to make use of their tremendous talents," said TV One President and CEO Johnathan Rodgers.
Russ left Hollywood in '89 where he was the morning man on the legendary 1580 KDAY, the first 24 hour hip hop station in the world and landed in Dallas at KJMZ 100.3 JAMZ, where he eventually became a staple in the community.
