While Robinson has done a lot of great work for many hard rock bands, it may also be a fair statement that, like a bronze coin turning green in water, Ross has/had an extremely "mill wheel" way of producing rock albums, a way that has stream lined the use of "enraged" vocals, muddy, detuned guitars, and one of the most recognizable forces among late '90s hard rock/metal, the institionalization of erasing (or rather "cutting out") the use of the guitar solo in modern day rock music. In this, and in the many bands that he has produced, Ross has been spoken of as "The Godfather of Nu Metal." Although he has denounced the Nu Metal movement for becoming complacent and the newer bands for not expanding on the style, which he helped create with Korn's first album, Korn (1994). Robinson has also been successful in the post-hardcore genre, producing At the Drive-In's final and most definitive album, Relationship of Command in 2000, as well as Glassjaw's genre-defining albums, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence (2000) and Worship and Tribute (2002). Robinson has also worked with the likes of The Cure on their eponymous album (2004) and From First To Last on their album Heroine (2006).
