Notes

The layout of Rhode Island's highways effectively make Tiverton and Little Compton isolated from the rest of the State. Because of this, people travelling to this part of the State from the Providence area will often-times cut through Massachusetts using Interstate 195 and MA 24, which becomes RI 24. RI 24 passes over the Sakonnet Bridge, which is constantly being repaired.

RI 24 was originally planned to run straight through Portsmouth, into Newport and to proceed over the Pell Bridge to Jamestown. The discovery of a civil-war era cemetry along the proposed route in combination with public outcry cased the RI 24 project to be aborted. An unfinished portion of the highway (now designated RI 138) can be seen just before the Pell Bridge Portsmouth is a town located in Newport County, Rhode Island. ...
