Part of a one-album deal at Arista, this album's commercial failure would quickly end Image:Princesymbol.JPG's relationship with the label. Arista president Clive Davis had intended Rave to be a comeback album loaded with guest-star collaborations in the manner of Carlos Santana's Supernatural, and to this effect, the album features guest performanances from Sheryl Crow (on "Baby Knows"), Gwen Stefani (a duet on "So Far, So Pleased", and Chuck D ("Undisputed"). Also included are Maceo Parker, Eve, and Ani DiFranco. Ultimately, however, the sound of the album is quite similar to 1998's New Power Soul Arista Records was founded in 1975 by Clive Davis, and named after his secondary school honor society. ...
