Qualia was a boutique brand of high-end electronics, created by Sony to showcase their best technology. Some Qualia products are brand new while others are upgraded and rebranded versions of regular Sony products. The line was launched in Japan in June 2003 and the U.S. in April 2004. In 2005, Sony discontinued the Qualia series except in the United States[1]. In early 2006, Sony discontinued the series in the US as well[2]. Ultimate AV: Sony Qualia 006 SXRD RPTV (1001 words)
Sony's $30,000 SXRD front projector, the Qualia 004, was hailed as a breakthrough technology when it came out last year.
The Qualia 006, being the top of Sony's line, comes equipped with every one of Sony's high-end features, including a digital comb filter, for that rare soul who uses a composite input, and 3:2 pulldown correction as well as a two-tuner picture-in-picture.
The normal Sony functions are arranged in banks of curved rows with tiny lettering, impossible to read in a low-light room.
Qualia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (1963 words)
Qualia have played a major role in contemporary philosophy of mind, largely because they are often seen as being an obvious refutation of physicalism.
It is important to note that qualia do not have the status of observed properties, which we are sure exist but might be wrong about; rather, the concept of qualia is first and foremost dependent on its definition, and the existence of qualia is predicated on the existence of properties which fit that definition.
If qualia exist, a normally-sighted person who is able to see red is unable to describe the experience of such a perception in such a way that a listener who has never experienced color will be able to know everything there is to know about that experience.
