Encyclopedia > Prince County, Prince Edward Island

Prince County is a county located in western Prince Edward Island, Canada. The county seat and largest city is Summerside. Prince County is often divided into East and West prince by locals for cultural reasons. East Prince, the home of Summerside, has a more modern economic base, and the location of Summerside in East Prince draws in people from West Prince and even western Queens County to conduct economic activities, such as go shopping. Many residents of West Prince are resentful of this. West Prince is less devloped, and due to the geography of Prince Edward Island, West Prince is the most isolated part of the province, and often feels ignored by provincial governments.
