The Pittsburgh Youth Ballet, a nonprofit organization founded and run by former Pittsburgh Ballet Theater ballerina Jean Gedeon, draws young dancers from across the country to train for careers as ballet dancers. Graduates of the PYB have won positions in the most prestigious schools and companies in the world including the New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, Kirov Ballet, and the Bolshoi Ballet, Moscow. The PYB partners with area public schools to allow students to integrate intensive ballet training into their high school education.
