As Philip once said, she had "bolted all the cardinal virtues and couldn't digest them." Though pious and patriotic, and a great moral asset for the house, she lacked that pliancy and tact which her mother so much valued, and had expected her to pick up for herself.
Philip, whose one physical advantage was his height, felt annoyed at her implied indifference to it.
It showed Miss Abbott that he had probed her to the bottom, but was able to conquer his disgust, and by sheer force of intellect continue to be as agreeable and amusing as ever.
Philip is expected to spend the next few months recuperating at his home in Lousiana while continuing work on several musical projects, some of which may see the light of day next year.
Abbott's live-in girlfriend, Rita Haney, and his brother and band mate, drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, were on hand (photo) to unveil an electric guitar belonging to the murdered guitarist, among new memorabilia items installed at the restaurant.
Abbott was shot to death by disgruntled fan Nathan Gale during a Dec. 8 performance at Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio.
