The Peoria Pirates is a 1999 Indoor Football League team. They played their home games at The Carver Center/Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois. They were IFL runner-ups in 1999 and won the IFL championship in 2000 before their original league folded and the franchise moved over to the af2. After the move, the Pirates managed to win Arena Cup III over the Florida Firecats, but couldn't repeat their performance the following year. After losing ArenaCup V to the Firecats, the franchise ceased operations after the 2004 season. Today, they exist in the UIF as the Peoria Rough Riders. The Indoor Football League began in 1999 as an offshoot of the troubled Professional Indoor Football League. ...
