In the 18th century an elegant library was created on the 3r floor of the palace with a ceiling that incorporated a rich stucco design. In the center of the libray's ceiling was placed Giovanni Battista Tiepolo masterpiece The Glorification of the Barbaro Family, a painting that now resides in the Metropolitain Museum of Art in New York. The palazzo today follows this form, although it was not finished until 1756 by the architect Giorgio Massari, who had been brought in to oversee the completion of the project by the new owners - the Rezzonico Family.
