But a couple months after Hulot announced that he would not run for the presidency, he now deplores that the environment has been forgotten in the campaign and has decided to publish the comments of the CVE, an environmental watchdog group close to the Hulot foundation, regarding the environment policies of various candidates.
Nicolas Hulot wished to remain neutral during the elections but his recent meetings and photoshoot with the green candidate seems to express his preference.

Hulot has everything she has, and worse, he enjoys across the board appeal.
Again, it's unlikely Hulot would beat Royal: But should he run, many on the mainstream left will worry that he could "steal" protest votes from their candidate, opening the way for the far-right's Jean-Marie Le Pen, who is waiting in the wings for another split Socialist vote.
